You may be ready to begin your weight loss journey, but aren't yet ready to make a surgical step. Or, you may need a medically supervised weight loss program as part of the bariatric surgical counseling process. If so, we are happy to direct you to our non-surgical weight loss specialist or work with your regular PCP to identify a plan that most impacts your overall health.
Our bariatrics team supports you through all of our programs with continued education and counseling before and after any procedures or weight loss plan. Our goal is to help you lose weight and enjoy your new life. But we cannot do this alone. Achieving success with the surgical or non-surgical weight loss program requires commitment, following a diet plan, exercising and following up with our physician and support staff on a regular basis. Our team will help you along the way in achieving your goals and making the lifestyle changes that can help guide you on your new journey.
Medical weight loss is a plan designed and supervised by healthcare professionals, emphasizing diet, fitness, and a healthy lifestyle. It also may include weight loss prescription medications.
More than 2 in 5 adults (42.4%) are obese and 1 in 11 adults (9.2%) are severely obese (NIH). We are proud to offer a new FDA-approved non-surgical weight loss treatment called the ORBERA™ Managed Weight Loss System. ORBERA™ involves the use of an intragastric balloon placed inside the stomach for a temporary period of time. Once inflated, the balloon takes up space in order to help you feel full much sooner than usual while eating. The balloon works in conjunction with a medically supervised and coordinated diet and exercise plan. This two-part program encourages the development of healthy habits that can be sustained for long-term weight loss success.
There are no incisions required during this quick outpatient procedure. A small, deflated balloon is inserted down the throat and carefully placed in the stomach. The balloon is then filled with a saline solution. Once inflated, it is about the size of a grapefruit. In most cases, this procedure can be completed in approximately 30 minutes.
After six months, the balloon is deflated and removed. This begins the second phase of treatment with the ORBERA™ Managed Weight Loss System. Our team of weight loss experts will help you continue with good diet and exercise habits to keep losing weight safely and effectively. This medically supervised weight loss program is designed to assist you as you adjust to new dietary and lifestyle habits. With our team approach, you will have a comprehensive foundation of support to help win the battle against weight loss.
We will provide an initial assessment, including history and physical exam. The body composition evaluation breaks down the body into percentage of fat, protein, minerals, bone, body water and muscle.
We will provide you with nutrition support and education. Registered dietitians will be available as needed to monitor progress, adjust the weight loss plan and celebrate incremental successes along the way.
You will receive an individualized diet plan, fitness goals, and prescription weight loss medications when medically necessary. Diet plans and medications will be adjusted as needed and appropriate.
